DYSL Out Of Kingdom Returning Swimmers Protocol
The following protocol was agreed by the DYSL board at a board meeting 11 September 2018.
DYSL encourages all Out Of Kingdom (OOK) returning swimmers, who were previously members of DYSL, to practice with the DYSL team. The priority for swim practice, however, remains with the registered and fully paid up members of DYSL.
Parents of returning swimmers who would like their swimmers to practice with DYSL swim team should inform the DYSL commissioner and DYSL Secretary a minimum of two weeks in advance. The commissioner will then check with the coaches that space is available and a return email will be sent by DYSL Secretary on space availability.
If there are a number of returning swimmers requesting to join the team for practice at the same time, and only a limited number of spaces, then the swimmers requesting to join earliest will be given priority (dates will be determined by when the email was received by DYSL).
Costs for returning swimmers:
- If the swimmer is only swimming for one or two weeks there is no cost associated with the swimmer practicing with the team.
- If the swimmer is swimming for longer, then a fee of 200 SAR per month will be charged for attending practice.
Note 1: The busiest time for us is over the spring break when we are practicing for B Regionals, A Regionals and Nationals. This period is not blocked for returning swimmers, but swimming space will be limited or possibly not available depending on pool conditions
Transferring to DYSL from another Saudi Aramco Swim Team
Swimmers who are currently members of a registered Saudi Aramco Swim Team (Abqaiq, Ras Tanura or Udhailiyah) who would like their swimmers to join Dhahran Youth Swim League (DYSL) should follow the below process. Once the below process is followed they will be allowed to join the team.
Swimmers wishing to join from above teams need to send their times obtained as directed below and have to have been obtained in the last calendar year. Times have to have been obtained in a swim meet held in Kingdom and have to be from events according to age: 5-6 years old – two strokes, 7-10 years old – three strokes, 11 years and above – four strokes. The times have to be officially recognized and presented from HyTek results sheet.
The results need to be sent the DYSL Commissioner and DYSL email account ([email protected]). The DYSL Commissioner will then set up a trial for the swimmer with one of the DYSL coaches at an appropriate time for swimmer and coaching staff. The trial will be at the Hills Pool, Dhahran. Coaches will report back to the DYSL Commissioner on suitability of swimmer. The DYSL Secretary will send official email to swimmers family if approval granted to join team.
If the swimmer does not have the above requirements, they will need to attend an official tryout like all other new swimmers to the team. Official tryouts are held twice per year. Normally in September for the Fall season and January for the Spring season.
